Striking thoughts!
Striking Thoughts was a well-played gift from my girlfriend. I figured that it would be an easy read because I have read a lot of Bruce Lee over the last ten years, but that assumption was really wrong. I had to remember his timeless advice:
The book is a compilation of Bruce Lee’s “Wisdom for Daily Living”, quotes and journal entries of his organized by theme. With topics like “The Void,” “No-mindedness,” and “Totality,” this book is a hard read for those of us that are interested in philosophy. Fortunately, everything that Bruce Lee talks about can be applied to our day-to-days, and if you’re interested in something less dense check out this one, this one, and this one. Here are my notes and quotes from the book:
“Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail.”“There is no one to fight only illusions to see through”“It is like a finger pointing away to the moon; don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory”“Self-conquest is the greatest of victories. Mighty is he who conquers himself”“You must let your inner light guide you out of the darkness”“Do not precede others, always follow them”
