Benjamin Banneker

It’s never to late to learn something new and become passionate for a cause, according to Benjamin Banneker.

The man was almost 60 when he opened an astronomy book, and soon became a go-to expert for everything that farmers and travelers needed.

Banneker also shows us that your personal interests can ALWAYS align with supporting a bigger cause in the world. Along with all of the data in his almanacs, Banneker included poetry and essays which called for abolition and racial equality.

We had fun learning about Banneker for who he was, what he stood for, and all the ways that people have mythologized him. He’s certainly a testament to the fact that it’s cool to be curious 😎
