Breathe by Imani Perry

Reading Breathe: A Letter to My Sons by @imaniperry is like getting the biggest, longest mom-hug ever.
The kind of hug that you leave feeling all of the love, care, joy and courage to live well that you can possibly receive.
Perry’s love for her sons, as a Black mother of Black children in America today, is so strong that I and every reader can feel and appreciate it.
It’s a book I’ll have to read again and again to remind myself of its essential truth:
Our grace – “the good that is in you, regardless of what happens” – is bigger than the trauma of a violent, racist and patriarchal society.
Our grace is how we survive and thrive. That’s something to never take for granted.
