Red At The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson
🌟A gleaming smile for a gleaming story!🌟
Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson is a fictional reflection on love, loss, and legacy for one family in New York City.
The story starts in the middle of things, at Melody’s 16th birthday, a coming-of-age celebration.
But her relationship with her mom, and her family dynamics in general, are clearly strained for unclear reasons👀👀
Woodson wrote the characters and their world so well that I couldn’t stop reading Red at the Bone once I started.
As the story flowed from one perspective to another across time and space, I felt so engaged and surprised by how everything came together at the end.
Filled with beauty, pain, and hope, Red at the Bone was truly enjoyable to read. Once finished, all I wanted to do was reread it!
@jacqueline_woodson is also one of the coolest people we’ve met this year. If you’d like to laugh and learn more about the poetry that inspires her writing, we have a podcast interview with her on Apple Podcasts and Spotify!
