Demetrius loves this book, not only for its impact on him, but also because it seemed like the perfect book for him to share with Black men who don’t like to read. Since the shock of an early encounter, Demetrius has been on a journey of lessons learned, deepening passion for Black literacy, and service to Black communities around the U.S. He shares with us what it’s like to be a Black father, what it takes to spark more students to become readers, and how every person served is really a family served.
